Special Olympics San Diego County is a fully accredited
area within Special Olympics Southern California,
Inc. a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization (Federal
Tax ID #95-4538450). As an accredited Special Olympics
area, Special Olympics San Diego County is responsible
for raising all funds necessary to support Special
Olympics programs within our area through donations
from the community, special events, fundraisers, and
grants. Special Olympics San Diego County does
not receive money from the United Way or from the
local, state, or federal government.
While
Special Olympics has worked to improve the lives of
over 1,000 Special Olympics San Diego County athletes
through its year-round sports training and competition
program, the movement has touched less than one percent
of the more than one million people with intellectual
disabilities here in California.
As
Special Olympics does not charge its athletes to train
and compete in its activities, it becomes a challenge
to provide every person with intellectual disabilities
a chance to benefit from Special Olympics. There are
a number of ways you can help make this happen. Donations
can be made through gifts of cash or credit card.
